Setting Yourself Up for Success (Instead of Failure)

Are you one of those people who puts 100 things on your To Do list and accomplishes them in one day?  If so, good for you!  I am not one of those people.  I am the kind of person who used to put 100 things on my To Do list, cross 5 important things off, and then beat myself up for not accomplishing them all.

Outsmarting the Downward Spiral

If you can relate, I want you to know that there is a way out of this self sabotage.  It may sounds counter-intuitive but the solution is to decrease your expectations of yourself.  Lower your goals.  If you think you should realistically be able to do 20 things in a day, only put 5 or 6 on your To Do list.

A Matter of Perspective

Once you begin consistently meeting your lowered goals, you will have some successes to put in your back pocket.  The negative self talk will subside.  You will be able to take pride in your accomplishments and feel good about keeping your word to yourself.

Will I Get Lazy?

No chance!  Using this technique will actually increase your level of motivation.  Meeting your goals will feel good and your confidence will increase.  When you make a promise to yourself or set a goal, you’ll have faith in your ability to achieve it.  And the best part is that it’ll be so much fun that you’ll want to do it again and again!
