Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. ~ George Bernard Shaw ~

Accept Change,  In Life  and Commitments

Change happens. Sometimes when you want it, and sometimes when you do not. Who you are now, may not fit with who you were when you made a commitment to something. Other times it could be that the commitment was the right size at the time, and it may be too big or too small later.

Not who you are.

People who suddenly become parents or guardians of children, the commitment to work or busy social life may change. For those who committed to regular overtime, work may no longer take precedence. Late night parties may take a back burner, because you realize children are more important. This may even happen with pets, sick family, families, or when you realize what you are doing does not fit you anymore.

You have changed in size.

Perhaps you made a commitment to paint 100 paintings in a year. Things happen and you find those are more important and keep you away from painting. Family needs you, an opportunity of a lifetime. Then maybe you need to accept that you can not pain 100 paintings in a year, and perhaps you should back your goal to 50. If conversely you paint 100 paintings in two months, then you may need to expand that goal to 500 paintings.

Accept the Change.

None of these is bad situations. When things change, there are commitments that sometimes need to be changed. Other times commitments need to be completely reworked, even ended. You committed to work 70 hours a week, then your mom got sick. Deal with what is important, your mom, not the commitment, even if it means ending it.  ~ MJ Schrader

It is not giving up when you need to change a commitment from a want to a need. Commit to life, to what is important and the other pieces will fall into place. ~ The Divine
