A principle is the expression of perfection, and as imperfect beings like us cannot practise perfection, we devise every moment limits of its compromise in practice. ~ Mahatma Gandhi ~

30 Days of Perfectly Good

It seems there are two thoughts about doing things. People want to do something perfect and will keep working on it over and over hoping they can catch perfect. The other thought is doing just the minimum work necessary to say it is done. Neither of which is the best method for you.

You can chase perfect all you want. Perfect will always be just one more review, one more fix away from done. Thus you will spend all your time chasing perfect and not get done with that objective or any of the other objectives on your list. After spending all your time on one, you may short change other tasks doing the minimum necessary.

The minimum necessary may seem like a great way to save time. You may paint a room with only one coat of paint to save time. It doesn’t take long for the previous color to start showing through, and then you will have to paint the room again.

While it may not be painting a room, with tasks that you short change on time, you may have to do again. This means twice the work instead of just spending a little bit more time the first time and doing it right.

Your goal over the next 30 days is to do a great job with everything you do. Do not obsess over making everything perfect, accept when you have given it your best. This may not be an easy line to walk, yet learning this line will be valuable in all aspects of your life.  ~ MJ Schrader
